Welcome!
Blue Ophilia was born in St Lucia, the Caribbean. She is a singer and songwriter based in Toronto, Canada.
She has been writing songs since she was about 12 years old with her oldest sister. They had dreams of sharing their music with the world, but life's distractions were abundant. Her sister moved on in her teen years, but the songs kept coming to Blue Ophilia naturally. She wrote them down in hopes of recording them one day.
She sang in a couple of cover bands over the years, lended her vocals for background on a few friends recordings, went to jams and sang with friends at karaoke simply for the love of music.
In her words, "It is lovely to help others build their dreams and yet we must remember to work on building our dreams as well, because time waits for no one."
In 2014, she set a goal of releasing her music on her birthday in August, 2016. Sadly, her back became injured at her job which was quite unexpectedly debilitating, which meant being off work. A simple deep breath or sneeze was excruciating. Simple tasks became a chore. Life ahead looked bleak, because her mobility had now become hindered and singing was definitely out of the question. Before this injury, she rode her bicycle every day and was at the gym 5 to 6 days per week, which were now no longer a part of her life. In her mind, her life and her dreams were lost, which preyed on her very being.
Fast forward to a couple of years of down-time for crying and self-loathing. Then lots of physio, healing, self reflection on the dangers of "irresponsible giving" and the importance of learning to say "no" Blue Ophilia has finally recorded and released two singles, "Euphoria" and "Don't wanna be your friend no more" which are available at Blueophiliamusic.com and on streaming platforms. An album is soon to follow.
Better late than never.
She is filled with elation and looks forward to sharing her music which she describes as a melange and a beautiful circus, due to her influences and her love of different music genres.
Her music consists of some dance, reggae, pop and a lot of strings.
Thank you for your visit. Joy, love and light.
Shine on. 🌞🌻💙
